What is the Elderly Dental Assistance Expanded Program?

Low-income elderly persons who are users of home care services subvented by the Social Welfare Department can receive receive free removable dentures and other related dental services, including oral examination, scaling and polishing, filling, tooth extraction and X-ray examination, removal of bridges or crowns and the provision of root canal treatment.

 

Who are eligible to enroll this program?

  • Elderly persons aged 60 or above using "Integrated Home Care Services" (IHCS) or "Enhanced Home and Community Care Services" (EHCCS) subvented by the Social Welfare Department while paying Level 1 or Level 2 fee charge for the said services, but are not receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance;

(Applications must be made on a referral basis following initial screening by service teams of IHCS and EHCCS participating in the Programme.)

  • Elderly persons aged 65 or above who receive Old Age Living Allowance (OALA) in the last three consecutive months;

(Applications must be made on a referral basis following initial screening by elderly centers, community centers, and dental clinics that accept applications.)

  • Elderly persons who have not benefited from the Community Care Fund Elderly Dental Assistance Programme;

(Including applicants who have not been referred to this programme by IHCS, EHCCS, home help teams, elderly centers, community centers, dental clinics that accept applications etc.) 

  • Elderly persons aged 75 or above who received dental services under the Programme at least five years ago (only applicable to "applicants for second time service");
  • Have not benefited from the Outreach Care Programme for the Elderly under the Department of Health;
  • Lost all or some of their teeth or suffer from dental illnesses; and encountering difficulties in eating or chewing, and should be willing to accept the subsidised services for dentures or other necessary dental services and treatment provided under the Programme.

 

How to enroll in this program?

Eliglble elderly can apply and arrange first appointment in person at district service units, including elderly centers, community centers, and dental clinics that accept applications. 

 

For the eligible home care services users, please contact the respective home care service teams for applications.
