What is the Elderly Dental Assistance Expanded Program?
Under the expansion of scope of subsidy, to subsidise more treatment items for the eligible elderly persons, including the removal of bridges or crowns and the provision of root canal treatment, in addition to receiving free removable dentures and other related dental services, including oral examination, scaling and polishing, fillings, tooth extractions and X-ray examinations.
To expand the target beneficiaries to allow elderly persons aged 75 or above who received dental services under the Programme at least five years ago to receive free removable dentures and other related dental services for a second time.
Who are eligible to enroll this program?
- Elderly persons receiving Old Age Living Allowance (OALA) in the last three consecutive months ; or
Elderly persons using "Integrated Home Care Services" or "Enhanced Home and Community Care Services" subvented by the Social Welfare Department while paying Level 1 or Level 2 fee charge for the said services, but are not receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance ; - Elderly persons who have not benefited from the Community Care Fund Elderly Dental Assistance Programme ; or
- Elderly persons aged 75 or above who received dental services under the Programme at least five years ago (only applicable to "applicants for second time service");
- Have not benefited from the Outreach Dental Care Programme for the Elderly under the Department of Health ;
- Lost all or some of their teeth or suffer from dental illnesses; and
- Assessed to be in need of and suitable to have removable dentures and receive other related dental services.
How to enroll in this program?
For OALA recipients, please apply in person at district service units participating in the Programme. When making applications, please produce the original copy of your Hong Kong Identity Card, documents (bank books or bank statements, etc.) showing receipt of the OALA subsidies by bank transfer in the last three consecutive months, and a proof of residential address.
For the eligible home care services users, please contact the respective home care service teams for applications.
